Who you are agreeing with

Osmia Trips is organised by Balder Berg Adelgaard, established in Chania, Crete, Greece (EU), trading as Osmia - the same person and place behind Osmia, the app. You can reach him and Lisa Acerbo at hello@osmia.day. The contract for a journey is with him, under Greek law and the EU rules on package travel, which give you the same rights wherever in the EU you live.

Each journey is a package within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302: accommodation, transport inside the journey and the planned activities, sold together for one price. That means the directive's protections apply to you in full. The standard information form the law requires is sent with every booking confirmation.

What a place costs, and when

The price

Each journey's page states the price per person, in a shared room and in a room of your own, and lists what is included and what is not. The price is in euros and includes VAT where it applies. It does not include your international flights, visas, insurance, or the items each page lists as not included.

The deposit

A deposit of €900 holds a place, paid after we have talked and agreed that the journey fits. It is not charged until then. The deposit is part of the price, not on top of it.

The balance

The balance is due 90 days before departure. We invoice it four weeks before that date. If it is not paid within 14 days of the due date, after a reminder, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and the cancellation scale below applies.

Price changes

The price will not change after you have booked, with one exception the law allows: if the cost of fuel, taxes or exchange rates moves our costs by more than 3 %, we may pass on the difference up to 20 days before departure, never by more than 8 %. If it were ever more than 8 %, you could cancel for a full refund. We have never done this and do not expect to.

When a journey is confirmed

A journey runs with at least 8 guests and at most 16. It is confirmed when 8 have paid their deposit, and we tell you the day it happens. If a journey has not reached 8 guests 20 days before departure, we cancel it and refund every payment in full within 14 days. We recommend that you do not book non-refundable flights before the journey is confirmed.

If you cancel

Write to us; the date we receive your email is the date of cancellation. What you get back depends on how close we are to departure, because by then the boats, rooms and guides are paid for:

If we can fill your place from the waiting list, we refund everything above the deposit. You may also transfer your place to another person who meets the journey's requirements, up to 7 days before departure, for the actual costs of the change. Cancellation insurance is a good idea and we recommend it.

If unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination - war, natural disaster, an epidemic, a foreign-office advisory against travel - significantly affect the journey or your transport to it, you may cancel before departure for a full refund, as the law provides.

If we cancel or change a journey

We may cancel a journey if it does not reach 8 guests (see above) or if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances prevent us from running it. In both cases you get a full refund within 14 days. We may make minor changes to the route - the order of chapters, a hotel of the same standard, a ferry instead of another ferry - and we tell you as soon as we know. If we have to make a significant change to a main feature of the journey, you may accept it, accept a replacement journey if we offer one, or cancel for a full refund.

How your money is protected

The law requires an organiser of package travel to protect your payments against its own insolvency, so that your money is refunded and, if you are already travelling, you are brought home. Before the first deposit for any journey is taken, Osmia Trips will hold that protection through a provider recognised under Greek law, and the provider's name, the policy or guarantee number and how to claim under it will be stated on this page and in your booking confirmation. Until that line stands here, no deposit is charged.

What we expect of you

Health and fitness

Each journey's page says what its hardest day asks. You confirm when you book that you are fit for it, and you tell us about any condition, medication or limitation we should know of. We keep that in confidence and we use it only to keep you safe. We may, after talking with you, decline a booking on health or safety grounds, with a full refund.

Insurance

You must hold travel and medical insurance for the whole journey, covering repatriation and the activities on it - for Nepal, trekking to 4,500 metres, which the permits require. We ask for the policy details before departure. Cancellation insurance is optional and recommended.

Documents

You are responsible for a passport valid at least six months beyond the journey, for visas where they are needed, and for any vaccinations your own health service recommends. We send a letter with the specifics the day the journey is confirmed.

Taking part

The planned days are the journey and we expect you to join them; you may sit any of them out, and there is never a charge or a question. Some activities - diving, freediving, rafting, canyoneering, the night climb, the trek - are run by licensed operators with their own safety rules, which you follow. We may ask a guest to leave a journey if their behaviour puts themselves or the group at risk, without refund.

Your own arrangements

Anything you add on your own - a dive course, a paraglide, a day trip on a free day - is your own contract with that operator, and outside these terms.

If something goes wrong

Tell us on the spot; we are there. If a service is not as described and we cannot put it right, you are entitled to an appropriate price reduction and, where the law provides, compensation. Our liability is limited as the directive allows, and it excludes anything caused by you, by a third party unconnected with the journey, or by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. We are not liable for the international flights you book yourself.

Your details

An application stores your name, your email address, your message, which language you were reading in, and a hashed record of the connection it came from. We use them to answer you and to run the journey, and for nothing else; they are not added to any list. Passport and health details are collected only after you book, kept for the journey, and deleted six months after it ends. Ask us to delete anything and it is gone the same day. The privacy page applies to the rest.

The small print

These terms are governed by Greek law and by Directive (EU) 2015/2302 as implemented there; as a consumer you also keep the mandatory protections of the country you live in. Disputes we cannot settle between us can be taken to the courts of your home country, or to the EU's online dispute resolution platform. If any clause here turns out to be invalid, the rest stand. We may update these terms; the version in force for your booking is the one you accepted when you paid the deposit, which we send to you with the confirmation.
