CEO and Founder of Osmia
I come to this from technology and AI, by way of economics and psychology. Osmia is built the other way round from most of what I have watched get made: to be useful, and then to get out of the way.
The turn came on an ordinary evening. I came home from work drained, sat down with a piece of paper, and let myself properly ask: if I were completely free, where would I go? The answer surprised me — Nepal and India, three months at least. Three months later I was on a plane with a one-way ticket to Kathmandu. I had sold the furniture, ended the lease and quit the job, and I had done no research at all.
What I planned as three months became three years. Ashrams and monasteries, seven-day silent retreats, the birthplace of the Buddha, breathwork taught across several countries and continents, an advanced freediving certification, Bedouin camps in the mountains of Egypt, ice bath and sauna in Sri Lanka, and a long walk into the Himalayas.
What I came back with was not a technique. It was the plain finding that it is not the extraordinary places that change a person — it is the ordinary daily choice about direction. And that is a thing you can practise. Osmia is that practice, written down and handed over.
I teach breathwork, freediving and the cold, and I write most of what you read on this site.
