The horizon

Where the project is heading

We have a clear idea of where we want Osmia to go, and the app is the foundation of a much larger project. Direction, Intention, Reflection, Journaling, History, Practices, Atlas, Patterns and Osmia Chat already allow an intelligence to build context around the life a person chooses to share with it. As the technology becomes more capable, that context can become richer, longer and more closely connected to what is happening beyond the screen.

Some of what follows is already within reach and some belongs further ahead. We are putting it here because the larger direction matters to us.

A dirt path winds through olive trees and dry grass towards the sea in the evening light.

Wearable data

What a person writes can tell Osmia a great deal, but it is only one part of what is happening. Sleep, recovery, movement, heart rate, cycles and other physiological signals can add context that may never make it into words.

We want to bring wearable data into Osmia in a way that adds understanding rather than another layer of metrics. A difficult month could eventually be understood through both what a person wrote and what was happening in the body around it. That becomes especially interesting when the information sits alongside reflections, conversations, Patterns and Practices instead of living in a separate health app.

Voice

There are experiences that benefit from writing because writing slows thought down, but there are many moments where speaking is more natural. We want Osmia to become something you can talk to while walking, after something happens, while travelling or at the end of a day when the thought is still alive but typing it feels unnatural.

As voice models improve, that conversation can carry the same history and context as everything else in Osmia.

Long-term memory

The value of Osmia changes with time. A few weeks can reveal repetition. A year begins to show seasons. Several years create something most people have never had: a record of how their inner life actually moved across a meaningful part of their life.

A person who has lived with Osmia for five years may have thousands of intentions, reflections, conversations, practices and changes of Direction behind them. Patterns can begin to see what disappeared, what returned, what preceded a major change and where periods that felt completely different were connected by the same question.

Long-term memory is already part of Osmia. We are excited to expand its technology and capabilities much further.

More capable AI models

The underlying intelligence will become dramatically more capable. Models will reason across larger contexts, retrieve information more precisely, understand speech and other signals more naturally, and become better at holding different kinds of information in relation to one another.

Osmia is designed for that trajectory. Better models mean more of a person’s history can be understood at once, and the relationships across Atlas, Chat and Patterns can become considerably richer.

Privacy and data ownership

As the context becomes more personal, control over that context becomes increasingly important. We want Osmia to move toward stronger user-controlled encryption and forms of data ownership that give people more power over where their information lives and who can access it.

Advances in encryption, on-device computation and privacy-preserving AI are moving quickly. We want more capable personal intelligence and stronger personal control to develop together.

Cryptocurrency payments

We intend to support cryptocurrency alongside conventional payments, particularly as Osmia becomes increasingly international. It is a practical addition rather than a philosophy around the product: another way for people in different countries to access what we build.

Teaching and practices

We want people who have spent years learning something to be able to teach it properly: yoga, breathwork, meditation, movement, mobility and other practices that are best learned from somebody who knows the craft.

Some can live inside the app and others make more sense as live teaching. Because Osmia can remember what a person actually returns to, the library can become increasingly useful without becoming an endless catalogue of content.

In-person experiences

The road also moves outside the app.

We are beginning in Crete with gatherings, day experiences, retreats and longer trips built around things already part of our own lives: yoga, breathwork, freediving, hiking, cold and heat, music, food, creativity and time in nature. Over time, we want these experiences to happen in other parts of the world as well.

The point is not to make the app physical. It is to create situations in which people can meet, experience something together and go back into their own lives with more to carry.

The first Beehive

Further ahead, we want a permanent place of our own.

The idea we have called a Beehive brings together things that are usually separated: somewhere to practise, work, teach, eat, move, make things and spend time with other people. A shala, heat and cold, functional movement, good food and coffee, places to work and enough life around it that people can meet naturally.

It is the physical version of an idea that keeps appearing throughout Osmia: individuality does not have to be traded for community.

AI beyond the current roadmap

Artificial intelligence is developing too quickly for us to pretend that the distant future can be mapped feature by feature. What feels much clearer is what we want to do with that capability.

As machines become better at reasoning, remembering, organising and synthesising information, a personal intelligence can hold more of a person’s life in context than is possible today. It can see further across time, work across more kinds of information and become available in more natural ways.

We want to use that intelligence to help people see more of their own lives, live with greater intention and spend more time in the parts of life that matter to them.

That is the horizon we are building toward.
